Congratulations to Nina Davuluri, Miss America 2014!
Even a knockout needs a little "push."
Before she nabbed the Miss America crown and made history in Atlantic City, Nina Davuluri had to dance, strut and sashay across the stage at Staten Island's St. George Theater during the Miss New York State pageant in July.
When it came time for the lifestyle and fitness portion of the state competition, the 24-year-old Syracuse native donned a pair of stilettos and a bold, lime green two-piece swimsuit from Kandice Pelletier Swimwear.
"I loved the details of the suit; it had silver hardware on both the top and bottoms and really popped on stage." Davuluri said.
It wasn't the first time she'd relied on Kandice Pelletier to help showcase her physical health and confidence during a swimwear competition.
The go-to luxury brand is the official swimwear provider of the Miss New York, and Davuluri had the chance to wear a cherry red suit with silver ring embellishments in the 2012 state competition (we'd be remiss not to mention that that Miss America 2013 Mallory Hytes Hagan wore a similar Pelletier suit before winning the crown).
"They are extremely well constructed and gave me the confidence I needed in the swimsuit competition," Davuluri said.
After becoming Miss America she told the Syracuse Post-Standard that she's an organization-oriented, Type A personality, so it's no surprise she had such high praise for Kandice Pelletier, who fine-tunes each piece she designs to give it a competitive edge.
